Layer of Skin: my routine.

Melanin popping

I didn’t fall in love with my skin until about nineteen or twenty years of age. I didn’t start taking care of my skin until I was twenty-two years old. At that point in my life, I was working in hot kitchens. Being in heated environments will bring more attention to your skincare for sure.

Let your pores breathe! ✨

I remember always getting compliments about my skin. What I remember most was taking it for granted. I was starting to see moles, pimples, blackheads, freckles, beauty marks, and zits! It was madness!

I’m almost thirty, every year I learn something new. The time and care that I take with my skin have progressed. There is a lot involved with skincare. Your environment, food, water, stress, anxiety, and hygiene all contribute to the health of your skin. I don’t know how much water I drink in a day, but it’s a lot! Food is fuel – period! The environment is about the factors of nature. We need to adapt to what we have. If it is super hot and sunny, stay hydrated. Occasionally, find shade if possible and wear sunblock. Try keeping the stress and anxiety to a minimum. How do you say? Only focus/worry about things you can control. I’ll leave that to you, regarding what you can control. Perspective is forever changing, and to be honest, that’s none of my business.

Lastly, what we are all here for is skin hygiene. Here I will list out my routine for my weekly skin bath. It brings me joy to make this time for myself!

  1. Start hot bath! Feel free to use bubble bath, bath bombs, and etc.
  2. Sit and soak for about 2-3 minutes.
  3. With just my fingers I take my hands and massage my bottom half first.
  4. Next I scrub my bottom half with a coarse scrubby 🧽
  5. I repeat steps 3 and 4 on my top half. I also check my breast for lumps here and pay attention to my armpits.
  6. If I’m shaving, that’s where this starts.
  7. By this time the water is super nasty. You should have dead skin and dirt float with no more bubbles. Hair of you decided to shave.
  8. Drain the water, stand up, do a quick rinse.
  9. Clean (with soap) one more time overall and the water should be drained.
  10. Now do a last 2 minute hot rinse. It assures me that the lingering skin, dirt or hair is no longer on me and rinsed the soap of.
  11. I turn the water off and shake my booty cheeks so they clap. I try to avoid depending on a towel to completely dry.
  12. I dry my yoni then feet last.
  13. I let my pores breathe for a bit.
  14. I use Shea butter as my first application after my shower. It’s too heavy too put on open pores.

While doing all of this I try to be mindful of my week, my thoughts, goals. I even get into affirmations sometimes. Use this as your time. It’s amazing for me! Give it a try!

Make and take for yourself 🙃

Take care of yourself, and your skin will follow! Feel free to try any of the steps in my skip bath routine. Also, SHARING is CARING! Let me know what works for you. I would love to try out what you are doing!

Let me reintroduce myself.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Screens! For all that are new to this space, welcome! Here is my little feed within this cyber world we scroll through. For those who know me, know that, the times have been long and hard. So many things have changed.

You’ve missed a bit so far, but no need to worry. You can always go back later and take a gander. I mean, why not? On this journey, I have embraced who I have become plus, what silly things in between. I am a big kid at heart, the kid that likes exploration, creativity, and curiosity. My curiosity and mouth got me in quite a bit of trouble too. Not one cat has come close to touching my tongue. I still have hope, no cat nails, though.

My past has taught me to keep moving and, you will always come out stronger. You can’t get anywhere once you have stopped moving. I also believe every life lesson has a lesson to teach. Things happen for a reason. We don’t get to chose and, we can’t control people.

This new year has brought so many new beginnings into my near future. I am super excited to see what this year has in store. I will be getting my real estate license, yoga certification and, so much more! Even better, all the things to learn from it. This new me is lighter, with less doubt, and stronger than before. I want to be less in my mind and more in the present. My vibrations are much higher. I need to do what makes me happy. Be on the lookout for consistent creative content, silliness and, growth.

I plan to grow and experience all the little things worth learning. Self-growth and challenging myself has always been my favorite mental-like task. So I will keep pushing on! I’ll be sure to share as I go along. Sharing is caring! The satisfaction will come then.

a moment to change a life.

These past few months have been tough.
I mean brutally disturbing. My heart, my soul and mind have had it.
Let me walk you through it.

My eyelids are swollen from watching this nonsense.
My ears are bleeding from all of the noise.
My mind is exhausted from all this chaos.
My body is tired of doing it alone.

The nurturer in me has fled, not sure if she’s coming back.
Hope sometimes seems to be far off in the distance.

Then, all of the sudden, things changed.

My eyes are normal and brown again. My ears have healed. I can even hear the birds chirping in the morning. My mind can wander about the colors in the wind. What changed was my mindset, the people I let in, my expectations, everything! It all had to change. If I could control it, I did. You simply have to take back your time and sit with yourself. Remember only you can make you happy!

There is a lot of internal conflict going on lately. It’s tough to acknowledge your flaws but, its easier to move past them once you understand the trauma hidden in the shadows. We are all living this life based on our particular experience. Taken these broken things and use them to build you up! Learn and grow; it is the only way out.

As for outer support, don’t forget, you are never alone! Allow your life-timers (long-lasting friends) and close family hear you. Be vulnerable, speak your mind, and things will work themselves out.

Lastly, put the energy towards solving problems, not dwelling in them. You can only change what you can control. Stay strong, because we have to. We’ve got this!

Adulting: Health Concerns

I have been all over the place the past few weeks. Mostly with my health concerns on the rise. Have I ever stated adulting is hard? If not then there you have it. I’d love to be a child again, harassing my mom and getting into all kinds of ruckus.

Lately, I have experienced extended menstrual cycles, daily migraines, fatigue and random moments of nausea. The struggle has been real.

Now it’s safe to say, I have a new set of allergies that have been addressed. Migraines are down to every other day and everything else is really just trial and error. I have even started a health diary so that I can keep track of what and why things are happening the way they do.

I was also referred to a neurologist just in case the migraines weren’t caused by my new allergy friends.

It’s safe to say I am back to 80% and hopefully haven’t lost interest in my current followers. I’m totally getting my life together. 🙂 Hope you are too!

Until next time!

twenty-seven dresses

After purging my closet of some old dresses, I can now say that I only own twenty-seven dresses. This meant a lot to me and my partner. For different reasons, haha. He definitely has a bit more space in the closet now. I got rid of two boxes of dresses. It was truly hard to pat with some of them but I needed to let them go.

If the title reminded you of that movie with Katherine Heigl, then good. That was my goal. That movie was great simply because it made me feel more normal in my own closet. At least my dresses weren’t from obnoxious wedding themes. Plus, you got to love Bennie and the Jets when it comes on at the bar scene. It’s magical and soo unrealistic.

I don’t remember what I was doing here. Had to retire this dress.

As much as I like layering clothes in the fall, that’s more of a choice to stay warm. If I could I would wear minimal clothes year round. That’s why my go-to is a dress. Plus my favorite part of my body is my legs. They are just really long. So to express my mood or look for the day with just one piece means everything to me. The tomboy in me doesn’t have a fighting chance. Wearing dresses makes me smile more and overall puts me in good spirits.

I have a jean overall dress that makes me feel five again. A long blue floral dress that makes me feel like a tourist. A long tan one for my lazy days, and soo many more. My favorite part is when I find a dress at the thrift store that is gorgeous. I could list every dress in my closet – but I’ll save you the read. Some photos will be strung along on Instagram as well.

Tourist mode 🙂

I like to consider it feminine to wear a dress. I don’t think it matters what sex you are or claim to be. It’s just something about the way one walks in a dress. The way the hips shift from side to side. Much different from wearing pants, much more powerful. Ahh, I could get lost talking about dresses.

I wish I had an endless budget just to spend on dresses. Put a cap on everything else and I will be okay. Well, I would also need a new closet or two so they have a place to live. In a perfect world.

These two (wig and dress) had me feeling foxy.

Do you know a boutique that needs a model? I just want to keep the clothes. I will model and post for them. Anyway, I plan to acquire more dresses this year. Not planning on a certain number but I definitely need to either replace or make sure I have storage. Gasp! This summer I will be trying to make my own dresses. Yes, i know. Another project, but at least I could save money making them. The best part is I know I already have some dress patterns around here somewhere.

Do you like wearing dresses? Why? Catch me outside this summer in a dress. Hopefully, something I made. Until next time.

party planning

As much as I like throwing a party, I’d rather not plan it. Well, that is when I am behind and everything seems last minute. Oh, time flies when you are busy working for multiple people. It’s hard to work for yourself sometimes.

I have been planning a house warming party for my partner and I. It’s tomorrow and as I am writing this I’m still working out the menu and decorations. It’s quite the thing to stress about. This is what I get for not making time to plan this. I blame me.

It’s not like it’s even a big party. It’s really just family, friends who helped move and close friends. The invitations were limited. Anyway, I’ve decided to not stress. These people love me no matter what. They’ll love it and enjoy themselves at the same time.

I confirmed everything that was needed and made one last list for the store. Which I will be running out to get sometime in the morning. I’m still anxious and worried about a few minor things. I’m just hoping it passes, hah.

I can’t wait to share more about the party. I’m excited about the cheese tray. Until next time.

I am not a shoe girl.

Let’s face it. I am not a shoe girl, at all. The fact that I have shoes on is probably because it’s required by society. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate them nor do I refuse to wear them. I am just overall not a feet person so you see where my trouble begins. I like for my feet to be free and able to breathe. I don’t like bare feet near or touching me. If it so happens to be a similar situation you may find me gaging or fighting for my life.

My usual group of shoes would be three pair that I rotate throughout the week. A pair of tennis shoes for anything active. A pair of ballet flats to throw on before work. Last but not least, my wannabe white converses I found at Michael’s (craft store) of all places.

I have other shoes, they just aren’t as important. Most of my shoes live in the trunk of my car, the others share two closets at home. The trunk of my car is super convenient, and likely the dirtiest thing in my car.

What can I say, I’m pretty basic when it comes to shoes. I like the fancy ones too, I just don’t think money should be exhausted on them. I also know how to get dolled up for a fancy event. I just like to save those looks for those one-offs. I like to think of myself as basic for the right reasons. Wearing the same shoes all the time comes with its cons though. You may ruin a nice shoe too fast which is usually my problem. I call them dailies, no not the contacts silly. But that’s what happens when you walk the sole right out of the shoe. Heck, I still have a pair that I still cherish, the soles are starting to separate, layer by layer. The top sole slides out with my foot every time. It’s quite sad. I And I know it’s time to give them up.

Ugh! When it comes to buying shoes. Oh goodness! I never want to pay full price for clothes or shoes so that is always a factor in which pair makes the better decision. Remember when I said I was basic, well let’s get back to that. On top of trying to find a deal, the shoe has to speak to me. It can’t be obnoxious looking or screaming for attention. Color choice mostly depends on what the shoe function is.

Shoes are required for safety, hygiene, and entry into most establishments. I wear them but not always by choice. Anyway, I’m sure you got the message. Where do you stand… with or without shoes?

Until next time.
