Earthhhh dayyy.

Oh, how we need to take care of this big blue and green we live on. Somethings don’t last forever.

Days as beautiful as today remind me that not everything is promised. We need to take care of what we have in order to cherish it for years to come.

Mother Earth needs love too!

My interpretation.

I sit in a corner and ponder today. Today means more than Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, it is also another day in which we as African Americans, get to remember, honor and appreciate those that stood up for rights we justly deserved. To be treated equally regardless of skin wasn’t your typical day years ago. These members of courage joined hands and fought for what they believed in. Something much bigger than themselves.

Unfortunately, to this day it’s still a problem. Hate crimes, prejudice, and racism continue to corrupt the hearts of many. It’s a saddening poison, one that removes the kindness in hearts, harmony in souls and hope for the future.

Observed on the third Monday each January we honor what is close to his birthday (01/15/1929). In Charlotte, we have a parade the Saturday before, I have yet to attend the parade. Don’t judge me – but I am just finding out about the parade as if it never existed.

This day is also important to me because it reminds me of how much work I have to do as an individual. To be the best that I can be, to show those before me that I am not wasting their triumphs and successes before me. Without them, I wouldn’t be able to. Next post I will be sharing what some of my goals for this year will be.

Until next time 🙂

It’s too late for turkey…

First, let’s be clear, I do not like the idea of celebrating Thanksgiving. I like to think of the holiday as a national day off to be with and eat with family an friends. It’s a day to be merry and not think about the pounds of food to gain.

It’s a day where almost everyone has time off to hopefully spend with friends or family. Or simply just relax and recoup. I know someone enjoying there time in Aruba and Prague. What a life they live. I wish I could travel more often. I’m working on it though! Soon I want to be able to travel every month, post and share with you all. Hopefully less driving so I don’t have so much anxiety but we will see. We can only hope for the best right now.

I spent this Thanksgiving with two of my most favorite families. People who give me joy, love, and comfort just with their presence. It’s was a lovely time with both. There was ham, turkey, dressing, potato salad, sweet potato casserole, broccoli casserole, yams, deviled eggs, and much more. Sitting with both, talking around great food and enjoying the energy of everyone. I definitely ate too much and was about to fall asleep right after. It totally hit me hard. I made it through after splashing my face with cold water. I made it back home and was able to spend some time with my baby.

He is an amazing person! He truly is, I’m not trying to make this about him but I truly am thankful for him. He massages my head neck and shoulders about every other night. Full disclaimer he loves playing in my hair. Even helps me do two strand twist and Bantu knots when requested. He is my saving grace. Calm, passionate and caring – something I wasn’t truly used to, until our 3rd year together. In July, we will be celebrating our 5-year anniversary. These 5 years have been amazing and life-changing. I have learned a lot about him and myself. He gives me full body [or close] massages like twice a week and I can tell him any and everything. He is my rock, he helps me keep it together and supports me in everything I do. I am thankful for meeting him on OKCupid. I’m thankful to how his calm and loving nature has molded me into a better woman today. He has done so many things that I may later have to share with you. I hope you have a partner as loving and kind as he. He is everything to me.

I am truly thankful for those I saw today as well as the bunch I wasn’t able to see. You all have made a dent in my life on many levels and you continue to support and love me for who I am. I love and appreciate you very much! I am thankful for having a home, job, car, life to live and family and friends who love and care about me. I am thankful for the people who continue to support my future goals and business. I am thankful for all the silly and weird people who are underappreciated and/or overlooked in this life. I could go on and on but I’d love to hear more about your Turkey day, or what you’re thankful for!

Until next time!
